    A Higher Calling

St. Andrew’s Parish, Exuma, is best described as “one church in five locations”, as is usually the case on the family islands, and thus requires many hands on deck in order for it to function optimally. And function this Parish does! Blessed with a hardworking rector and an equally hard working assistant curate St. Andrew’s has been lovingly dubbed as “the parish that does not sleep.” This mantra has been attached to the Parish because there is always something going on, because ministry never stops, and people are always in need of help. On the 13 th of December 2015, 25 young people took the bold step of affirming their

baptismal vows by undergoing the rites of the confirmation, at The Historic St. Andrew’s Church, Georgetown, Exuma. In the presence of the Bishop of The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Right Reverend Laish Z. Boyd, the candidates proudly and boldly proclaimed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and affirmed their commitment to live, work, and labour for Him.

The candidates, who represented each of the five locales within the Parish, were

presented to the Bishop by The Rector, The Rev’d Father Ethan P. J. Ferguson and the

assistant curate Rev. Paulette Cartwright in grand style on this occasion. Adding to the

brilliance of the evening was the fact that of the 25 candidates, 8 were adults who had

made the decision not only to follow Christ, but to adhere to the teachings, traditions

and practices of the Anglican Faith. Another historic moment was made in this

    confirmation event as e...
